To Be or Not to Be
Do we have to be in the clutches of yet another foriegn power? It is a question that received an unanimous answer in our Lok Sabha - Yes. We have been fortunate to have been part of an ancient civilization, but it has been at a costly price. India has been plundered and subjected to opression for nearly thousand years. The true face of an Indian has been supressed by the genes of Aryans, Mughals, Persians, Portugese, Dutch, French, British and now may be the Americans. Does such a cultural diversity provide us with anything to cherish? Not really, all that we have received for opening our arms to embrace the visitors has been impoverishment, betrayal and a mutual mistrust among the citizens.
As India gives a green signal to the nuclear deal, we have entered a new era. Its repercussions are going to be severe to the future generations. The rosy prospect of a supple nation that could suffice its growing need of energy could be the next oddessey. My view, although irrelevant in the larger context is that of disllusionment. I cannot forsee any benefits of this agreement - if we may be allowed to call this as one - in both scientific and ecological frame of mind. We have to wait until 2050 to reap the benefits of the treaty created by a vision impaired prime minister, who has taken us to the abyss of inflation, which might see the obliteration of a common man. Would the nuclear energy be produced to serve the energy needs of Kalavathi and Sasikala, the indian women who were quoted by the general secretary of congress in his attempt to persuade the members to vote for the government? Not in theirs or even the next generation. It is farce to reconcile with a superpower who have obsesed us with the riches of globalization to seek vengeance for the riposte of the past.
The prime minister has been a gross failure. He has failed to accrue on the foundations laid, rather, has been naive in his approach in tackling problems of relevance. As we head to possibly a dark phase in the nation after nearly sixty years of gaining independence, we have to blame our selves for being divded yet again, to be ruled by a western power. It requires a revolution to remove the seeds of misdeeds from a nation, it has been performed before, in a non-violent way. Do we need to rise again to quel the evil throes that challenge our existence, the wheels of time will tell. However, it is time for all of us to be prepared for more than the inevitable.
