Western Promises

The lure of coming to America is at what cost? Interesting question, rarely enters the mind when one seeks out for this land of opportunities. As every gold rush has had its tragedies, so does this great democracy. Inundated with immigrants, who have rushed out of their countries in anticipation of a better life, but have soon succumbed to the disappointment and fear of their survival amidst the harsh conditions of this land.

It is benign of one to look at the accumulated materialism, vast homes, cars and wealth to deny the ultimate truth, Life ! In the past few months, few peace friendly indians have become victims to criminal needs. It has come to their loved ones as a shock, i am astounded as well, not by these crimes but by the guilelessness of these people who believed in USA as a safe haven. A practical side of mine says, they paid the price for negligence, on the other hand feeling of betrayal from the empty promises made by the patrons of this country leaves me restless.

None of the residents who have been here before reveal the attribute of crime associated with this country, rather they believe to blind you with the dazzle of hidden treasures, while comfortably avoiding to utter the dangers involved in searching for it. Why believe in the miracle of living, when euthanasia is reality. This is the truth of this western world, hollow and unsympathetic like the black widow, it continues to sustain by feeding on its own lovers. Come wrapped in sheath of kevlar, but do not be suprised if it is stolen and you become the martyr of your own greed.

I have a long way to go, promises to keep, promises to keep, before i sleep. Believe me Frost never imagined this country when you wrote this, so do not interpret these verses as aspiration for longevity in this nation of abundant agonies.
