Thrilling men

In the field of cricket, there have been these odd men who are always captured my imagination. It was their free will to break conventions and inherent stroke of genius that etched a permanent mark in my mind. Each of these men have had their favorite hunting ground, where romance, and running between the wickets, dancing to the tune of the crowd provides a bollywood cliche.

Azza, he was divine to all, straight from the lap of allah to the cricket field. He used to light up my day with his dazzling sword play, standing tall like a fencer, and using those wrists at the last moment to direct the ball to geometrically impossible directions. A sense of mystery still pervades this ability to defy physics. He was the Hero of Eden Garden. He had a love affair that lasted forever until the communal divides in India intervened.

Now, watching SRT, i cannot imagine, even after all these years, how this man can throw up the charm every time he visits Sydney. It is admiration for this carefree spirit that has left me awestruck. The man, haunted by the ghosts of his own achievements, now, has exorcised them to start a new affair with his old love. Quite unheard, yet true !

We, indians, romantics at heart will remain to be one, so as long as our aspirations survive through these individuals.
